The main design concept of the City Hall and Cultural Centre at the Municipality of Gerakas is the formation of a complex module which intends to serve the local residents and culture in general. The architectural composition describes an entity of almost coincident spatial and notional relations: from everyday routine to cultural-social activities as cultural interventions. It talks about a building that should be a landmark, a reference that will intervene in the collective perception. While approaching the core, one realizes its scale “intersects” the urban organization, thus creating deliberate discontinuity that broadens the feeling of outdoor public space in the densely populated city.
