The proposal for the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza embodies the spiritual, symbolic and topological destiny of the Egyptian civilization within the course of its history. The linear form utilizes the dynamic tension of its built (the Pyramids) and natural (the desert) surroundings. Various elements that characterized ancient Egyptian architecture, like monumentality, inviolability, mathematical precision, austerity of forms, and the mystical sense of proportion, resurface here as central themes of the composition. The emphatic concern of the proposal created a building symbolic of the Egyptian civilization that would give a sense of wholeness and spatially express the intrinsic value of memory.
