For the design of the ‘Floating house’ a central “band” was envisaged, like a timber pier or a travelling boat – that gathers all indoor and outdoor activities. Following the image unfolded by the landscape panorama, the interior organization dictates different priorities of views and spatial roles. The architectural idea negotiates the dialogue between the building and the landscape, classifying its interior and correspondingly its exterior space, in extroverted areas that open towards the views and in introverted ones for privacy. The final structure is formed by the interactive relationship between these individual clusters, which are penetrated by the local flora and natural light. The dialogue with the Place, as expressed spatially, indicates materiality, density, gravity, temperature and acoustic quality, elements that have nothing to do with abstract concepts but with a thorough experience.
