RESTAURANT, BAR & SHOP OF “SHEDIA HOME” ON KOLOKOTRONI STREET, ATHENS
“Shedia Home” includes the street magazine’s shop, an art exhibit, a restaurant-bar and a cafeteria. Both the “Shedia Art” collection and the building itself were treated as vibrant entities at the core of the project’s conceptual idea – which would not be applicable if a strictly functional or rationalized approach were adopted instead. In a sense, the space itself becomes a piece of “Shedia” art. It is made for, and with, the hand-made objects of the “Shedia Art” collection. This is a meticulously crafted place, where matter becomes an active contributor to the creative process, rather than a mere material output confined to its tectonic role. “Shedia Home”, a pro-bono project by Potiropoulos+Partners, offers an inclusive and participatory platform as a reflection on the social and symbolic relevance of the greater cause it intends to serve;one which transforms architectural practice into an open-ended, diverse cultural and experiential narrative.

EK MAGAZINE – ANNIVERSARY EDITION, SEPTEMBER 2015
The anniversary edition of September 2015, on the occasion of the completion of 20 years of architecture through EK Magazine, includes the utopian project “Floating Skyscrapers” of our firm. The proposal comprises three buildings of equal height, composed of individual modules that are arranged in order to slide one on the top of another. A glass surface/base connects the three volumes which give the impression that are floating in the water. A motive for this design conception was the notion of “solitary waves”, which are transformed constantly due to sudden changes in the bottom of the sea. These water forms come together and move as a ripple in order to divide again and return to their previous state. This process indicates the presence of a type of organic “memory”. This particular approach provided the opportunity to explore new potential relationships and ratios, which can be imported in architectural design through other, more dynamic organization systems.

Quadrant is an independent consortium of designers, planners, engineers and technical specialists, which offers a broad range of professional services. In this context, we are in discussion with foreign architectural and consulting practices exploring partnership possibilities outside and inside Greece, while an agreement has already been reached with one of them. Through our cooperations, we will ensure that Potiropoulos+Partners is the exemplary architect of choice for clients fusing international design quality with local service delivery.
