Dimitris Potiropoulos and Liana Nella-Potiropoulou have built a practice reputation for excellence in design spanning over twentyfive years. In 2015 Rigas Potiropoulos joined the firm which was rebranded into Potiropoulos+Partners to reflect a fresh and internationally aspiring era.
Dimitris Potiropoulos

Studied architecture at Technische Hochschule Darmstadt Faculty of Architecture with professors G. Behnisch, H. Striffler and Th. Sieverts. Served as scientific associate at the Chair of Free Hand Drawing. Received special commendation for his project “Residential Proposal in the Historical Centre of Reutlingen”. Specialized in “Architectural Composition - Special Issues of Building Design” under Professor Jürgen Bredow. Completed his studies in 1981.

Dimitris was trained in the offices of “Konstantinos Kapsabelis and Associates” (1978), “F.G. Reihmer Architekten” (1979), “Prof. Helmut Striffler Architekten” (1980 - 1981). After his studies he established his private studio in 1981 and worked for “A.N. Tombazis and Associates Architects “(1985 - 1989). In 1989 he co-founded with Liana Nella-Potiropoulou the Athens based firm “Potiropoulos+Partners”, today one of Greece’s most accomplished architectural firms with international recognition.

He has been repeatedly awarded prizes and distinctions in architectural competitions, among which: 1st Prize for the Museum of Natural History in Samos, 3rd Prize for the Complex of Technical Chamber of Greece in Maroussi, 2nd Prize for the New Acropolis Museum in collaboration with the Studio Daniel Libeskind, 1st Prize for the refurbishment of the Listed Building Complex of ‘Ekmetzoglou’ Silk-mill in Volos, distinction for the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, and many more.

Dimitris has lectured Lectures and publications of his have been published in the Greek and International Press. Some of his projects have been presented in exhibitions in Greece and abroad, among which: “Modern Architecture in Historical Centres”, Darmstadt, 1981 – “Α’ Biennale for Young Greek Architects”, Athens, 1996 – “Β’ Biennale for Young Greek Architects”, Athens, 1998 – “Modern Landscapes. The Greek Architecture in the Decades of 1960 and 1990”, Rotterdam, 1999 – “International Architectural Exhibition”, Belgrade, 2000 – “Pan-Hellenic Exhibition of Architectural Project”, Patra, 2000/2003/2006 – “The shape of Space, 40 years architectural Trends”, Athens, 2008, and many more.

Through his work but also on a theoretical level, Dimitris Potiropoulos has pored over issues of sustainable architecture and sustainable development of the built environment. His lectures and publications concern issues of architectural theory, as well as projects and studies implemented by the office. He is co–founder of the “Hellenic Institute of Architecture”. In 2009, “Editions Potamos” published the monograph “Potiropoulos D+L Architects” with selected works of the office of the period 1989 to 2009, which is prefaced by Daniel Libeskind and Prof. Dimitris Philippides.
Liana Nella-Potiropoulou

Liana Nella-Potiropoulou, co-founder of Potiropoulos D+L Architects, studied architecture under honorary scholarship at the National Technical University of Athens and received her Dipl Arch degree in 1984, being awarded twice the Technical Chamber of Greece Prize. In 1985 she received her MArch from the University of Pennsylvania in design and theory of architecture and was awarded the Frank Miles Day Memorial Prize for excellence in theory.
During her studies, Liana worked in the office of Prof. Pavlos Mylonas (1982-1982), and collaborated with the “Greek Centre of Product Design” (1983). After her graduation she worked for Alexandros Tombazis (1985-1989) and in 1989 she established her partnership with architect Dimitris Potiropoulos founding Potiropoulos D+L Architects. In their studio’s successful course, they have designed hundrends of projects, ranging from large scale including the Olympic Tennis Centre, the Olympic Aviation Hangar & Headquarters, and the Flisvos VIP Marina – to small scale residential and retail. Potiropoulos D+L Architects has been repeatedly awarded in competitions and has received numerous distinctions, among them the 2nd Prize for the New Acropolis Museum in collaboration with Daniel Libeskind, 1st Prize for the Samos Natural History Museum, Distinction for the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, whilst many realised projects are the result of these awards.
She was appointed adjunct lecturer and taught architectural design at the University of Patras Department of Architecture in 2000 and 2001. Her projects have been exhibited in Greece and abroad – “Modern Scapes - Greek Architecture in the 60’s and 90’s”, Rotterdam, Barcelona, Helsinki, Thessaloniki, 1999, “Athens Scape – The Olympics and the Metabolism of the City”, RIBA, London, 2003, “The Scientific Work of Women Engineers”, Athens, 2008 – “Shape of Space”, Athens, 2008 – “Residence in Greece from the 20th to the 21st century”, Athens 2009 and have been published in greek and international magazines. Liana Nella-Potiropoulou has lectured extensively presenting the work of the firm. In 2009, “Editions Potamos” published the monograph “Potiropoulos D+L Architects” with selected works of the office of the period 1989 to 2009, which is prefaced by Daniel Libeskind and Prof. Dimitris Philippides.
Liana’s interests lie in implementing design excellence and consistent philosophical approach in projects, thus challenging the dialogue of buildings with nature, technology, history and society. Her active involvement in all the design phases up to the supervision, combined with the establishment of solid relationships with the clients, the proficient project management and her persistence in perfection, has resulted in hundreds of realized successful projects of both the public and the private sector.
Rigas Potiropoulos

Studied architecture at Sir John Cass Faculty of Art, Architecture and Design, where he obtained his Bachelor in Arts degree. He received his MSc degree at ALBA Graduate Business School and NUCB Nagoya University Graduate Business School where he studied international business and management. Rigas gained his Master in Architecture degree, with Distinction, from Kingston University. He was also awarded the Jonathan Woolf Award – Best Portfolio Prize, AJ Student Prize, Kingston’s University Nomination. During his studies he worked periodically with Potiropoulos D+L Architects and after his graduation he was officially trained there as an intern. Following the completion of his studies, he is based in Athens and working as partner at Potiropoulos+Partners.

Rigas has travelled extensively from Europe and USA to India and Japan, believes in the diversity of cultures, and is passionate about the advances and benefits of globalization. His international experience also reflects upon his approach to architecture, by understanding and respecting the social and cultural needs of the local community he is designing for.
Myrto Koutsovoulou

Myrto Koutsovoulou studied architecture at the National Technical University of Athens. She continued her studies at Edinburgh College of Art at the University of Edinburgh, where she received her Masters of Science degree in architectural design and sustainability and was awarded with Distinction. Myrto’s final design and research projects, have been exhibited and published both in Greece and in the UK and have been graded as excellent.
Myrto performed her internship with Potiropoulos+Partners, before returning to work as Project Manager. Through her work on a broad range of projects, she has gained a diverse experience, from Concept Design to Construction Documents. Currently, as the firm’s Director-Design Manager, she is involved in all aspects of project design, management and team organization of the practice. Myrto oversees and leads the overall day-to-day design processes ensuring high quality coordinated design. During and after her studies, she has gained experience in other practices as intern, architect/project architect and as freelance architect. Previous collaborations include a+architects, A.R.I.S. Architects and D+S LTD, where she worked on projects of varied sizes and levels of complexity.
Myrto is highly interested in the relationship of architecture and memory and has conducted relevant research during her studies. She has a longstanding concern about sustainability and design both in theory and practice and has been trained in BIM software by specialists from Max Fordham LLP during her MSc studies. Through the cooperation with the local community during her design projects, she has expanded her abilities in communication and further deepened her interest in the social dimension of sustainability. 
Irini Polosifaki

Irini Polosifaki received her architectural degree at Patras School of Architecture with Distinction. Her diploma thesis project was also awarded by A.N. Tombazis and Associates Architects. Upon her graduation, she was trained as an intern at Potiropoulos+Partners. Since then, she has worked on numerous projects both as an associate of the firm and as a freelance architect.
Irini has gained extensive experience in project management but mainly in the area of planning services documentation. To that end, Irini has successfully dealt with all the required phases of planning a large scale project, from obtaining a building permit and drafting the tender and procurement documents to the final certifications.

Panayotis Kolokouris

Panayotis studied architecture at the National Technical University of Athens with professors T. Biris, P. Tournikiotis, D. Papalexopoulos. After receiving his Dipl Arch degree, he was officially trained with Kourkoulas Andreas+Kokkinou Maria Architects as an intern, while receiving special commendations for research work that he conducted for Lavrion Technological and Cultural Park. Panagiotis had also worked as an architect engineer in the public sector and in the office of Pavlos Ninios Architects & Engineers, specializing in Architectural Detailed Design and Construction Technology. After that time he has been an associate of Potiropoulos+Partners, currently under the title of Construction Design Manager of the practice.
Panayotis has helped to monitor and supervise the flow of development activities to ensure completion of architectural work for new construction projects. He has provided technical expertise and guidance in preparation of efficient datasets, layouts, work statements, drawings and delivery schedules. He has been overseeing detailed design and drafting process in hundreds of projects, ranging from the large scale to the small one, including a variety of building functions, while ensuring construction documents of high quality and accuracy. 
Ioanna Koulouri

Ioanna was trained as an architect at the University of Patras where she gained her Diploma with Distinction. During her studies, she took part in various academic activities, worked in a series of research programs in Urban Design and Housing and was also selected as a research member for the 3rd Athens Workshop with Princeton University School of Architecture.
She was member of the curatorial team for the Greek Pavilion at the 14th Biennale of Venice 2014, curated by Professor Yannis Aesopos and was also part of the design team of Yannis Aesopos Architecture Proposal for Elaionas, for the Municipality of Athens. In the following years, she collaborated with Panagiotis Sarlis and LOT architects, working for the design of residential, commercial and renovation projects, gaining experience in all design levels from concept to completion. 
Ioanna has taken part in architectural competitions and has been distinguished, while her work has been exhibited and published on international and national level, such as for the 13th Biennale of Venice, Goethe Institut and the 8th Pan-Hellenic Exhibition of Architectural Work.

George Antonopoulos
Architect BSc BArch MPhil
Associate Director
George completed a 6-year course of Architecture at the University of Bath with professor Ted Happold of Buro Happold and he also studied Town Planning at the University College London (MPhil, 1984-1986). He has worked at “The Sir Basil Spence Partnership” in London, at “The Architectural Studio” in Athens, at “LC Architects” in Athens and as a freelance Architect.

He is co-founder of the Design and Build firm AV Construction and has been directly involved in numerous projects from the early conceptual design stages through to completion.
George has a strong technical background, a keen interest in sustainability and is good at client and contractor liaison. At Potiropoulos+Partners, he is responsible for key technical issues of projects varying in size and complexity, for design implementation procedures, new material research and for providing cost effective solutions.
